ARC has in-licensed the patents through an exclusive worldwide license agreement with The University of British Columbia for the development and commercial exploitation of this intellectual property. These patents disclose the use of naturally occurring sulfated polysaccharide molecules, known as fucans, for the prevention of surgical adhesions and/or fibrous adhesions. Additional worldwide fucan patent applications have been acquired by ARC as a result of advances in surgical adhesion research. The Company will continue to build and protect its intellectual property by aggressively filing and prosecuting patents.
